Meet the Owners
Janek Business Solutions is owned by Kathleen Novak and John Vandenberg. Both came to bookkeeping through an unusual path. They're engineers by training. Kathleen graduated from Cornell and worked in corporate engineering before moving into product marketing. John holds degrees from Drexel University and New Jersey Institute of Technology, with years of experience in biomedical engineering applications.
Almost twenty years ago, they started a property management company together. Managing large properties and million-dollar budgets required constant attention to expenses, accurate record-keeping, and financial planning that actually held up when circumstances changed. That work meant staying on top of cash flow, tracking costs across multiple properties, and communicating clearly with clients who depended on them.
They learned what financial records are supposed to do for a business owner. Not just satisfy an auditor, but actually help you understand where you stand and plan for what's coming next.
